Abstract
The aim of the present work was to analyze the journalist cover of Olympyc Games in Pequin 2008 in the printing press of Santa Maria-RS-Brazil. O analyze was made about the place in the newspapers for Olympyc Games, and the values and features, through the content used by the newspapers Dario Santa Maria and A Razão. The most propagated categories were Exaltation of Ethnic and nationalism and Exal- tation of nationals’ athletes.
As conclusions: coverage of newspapers strengthens high performance sports, competition’s sports; was exalted values and features that have less relationship with it is promotes as Olympic Imaginary, it is fictitious for the actual society.
