Veterans and beginners: meeting of two generations in the conflict of Alimentaria San Luis in 1986

Abstract
The period of 1983-1989 in Argentina was marked by tension between the unions and the national government. This situation is explained by various positions that reconstruct the conflict, emphasizing different aspects: salary or economic, political, trade union. Few analyzes explain the emergence of workers' struggles from motivations linked to the symbolic or cultural.
This article analyzed the trade union conflict of Alimentaria San Luis in 1986, in Villa Mercedes, San Luis, in a generational key, characterizing the two generations that interacted in it: a new democratic generation, and its predecessor, socialized in dictatorships. of the periods 1966-1973 and 1976-1983. Through the use of oral sources, an attempt will be made to account for the previous trajectories of male and female workers, and the impressions generated by contact with the manufacturing and trade union world after joining Alimentaria San Luis.
