Abstract
Forced migration has become a fundamental reading key in recent Latin American history. In Argentina, this field emerged with case studies on diaspora communities during the last military dictatorship. The Argentine exile to West Germany is still an unexplored chapter. Our purpose is to reconstruct this experience by identifying the stages of forced migration, paying special attention to the German solidarity movement that challenged the "silent diplomacy" of the German government, and organized the reception of the first exiles through transnational refugee networks established beyond the militarized Southern Cone.
