About the Journal

RESEÑAS is a biannual, academic, and specialized publication of the Association of Professors of History Teaching in National Universities (APEHUN), which has been published since 2003.

APEHUN was founded on November 27, 1999, in La Cumbre, Córdoba, at the initiative of a group of professors involved in teaching and research in the Didactics of History and Teaching Practice programs of Argentina’s public universities: Liliana Aguiar de Zapiola (UNC); Cristina Angelini (UNRC); María Elina Tejerina (UNSa); Alcira Alurralde (UNT); and Graciela Funes (UNCo).

The main objective of the first meeting was to create a space that would enable the sharing of experiences in teaching, outreach, and research in the field of the Didactics of History within National Universities dedicated to training history teachers. For this reason, professors from National Universities across the country were convened, sharing similar concerns and challenges regarding teacher education in History, and seeking to fulfill a longstanding aspiration to foster connections among university departments dispersed throughout the national territory. During that first meeting, course syllabi, outreach experiences, and research projects were shared. Most importantly, the decision was made to establish APEHUN, an organization that would bring together and maintain the bonds that had been forged, while also opening the door to new members.

Over time, each meeting strengthened the collective intention to move forward in unifying efforts and incorporating an increasing number of teams dedicated to training in the teaching of history. Since then, and to the present day, the association has met annually within the framework of activities promoted by APEHUN. Currently, it is composed of Teaching and Research Teams in Didactics of History and Teaching Practices from the National Universities of Córdoba, Río Cuarto, Salta, Tucumán, Nordeste, Rosario, Cuyo, Mar del Plata, Litoral, Comahue, Buenos Aires, UADER, General Sarmiento, General San Martín, and Catamarca.

APEHUN annually organizes, among its members, academic and scientific exchange meetings (Internships, Symposiums, Training Tracks), hosts the National and International Congress on Research and Teaching of History every two years, presents working groups in the framework of the Inter-School/Department of History Conferences, and publishes RESEÑAS de la enseñanza de la Historia, the association’s scientific dissemination journal.

APEHUN is a non-profit association which, since its creation, has carried out the aforementioned activities with the purpose of promoting, disseminating, and consolidating a scientific space in the field of the Didactics of History. In this framework, it has built ties of exchange and joint activities with the University Association of Professors of Didactics of the Social Sciences, Spain (AUPDCS); the Chilean Association for the Teaching of the Social Sciences (ACHECCSS); the Colombian Network for Research in the Didactics of the Social Sciences (REDidcs); the Brazilian Association of History Researchers (ABEH); and the Network of Specialists in Teaching, Dissemination, and Research in the Teaching of History.
